The Story Behind the Song...

I had no idea what I was about to experience.
I headed outside for a walk, then suddenly changed my mind. Instead of buying coffee from a barista, I decided to save a little money, make my own coffee, and grab my old recycled cup. Then I headed out again.
I was walking toward the beach, but if I hadn't looked down a side street at just the right moment, I would have missed it.
At first, I thought a fire hydrant had burst, but the sound was different. Was it getting closer?
I pulled out my phone to film.
Could this possibly be... rain?
To my astonishment, it was.
I texted the video to my parents and my boyfriend and asked if they had ever seen anything like it. They encouraged me to upload it, though I almost didn't because I thought I sounded so silly in the video. Of course, I know how rain works! I lived in rainy Humboldt County for five and a half years, have traveled to 26 countries, and have hiked through plenty of rain. I had simply never experienced anything like this before. Well, I uploaded it and I'm glad that I did!
My video reached 5 million views in just two days on Instagram and was picked up by news organizations around the world. The Weather Channel even called it a "meteorological marvel." People from all over the world shared their own stories of unforgettable rainstorms, while others told me they hoped to witness something like this someday. It reminded me that awe is something we all share. The beauty and wonder of nature have a way of bringing people together. We all share the same Creator and the same awesome little planet with all of it's wonder. I'm incredibly grateful that this unexpected moment became a bridge connecting me with people across the globe.
That experience, and the conversations it sparked on social media, inspired me to write "Wall of Rain." I hope this song reminds you to slow down, look around, have fun, and never lose your sense of wonder! We never know what's around the corner.
