“The Preparation Process”

Jeremiah 29:11 – ‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’

In my life I’ve found that God isn’t as concerned with getting me from Point A to Point B, as He is with His investment into me through the PROCESS. The processes that we go through are the times that build the most character in us. The process isn’t just a means to get to Point B. It holds in itself value so great that God’s purposes in our lives will not come to pass without it. Look at these biblical examples of heroes whom God took through processes that prepared them for powerful purposes.

King David was full of worship for God, full of faith, and full of tenacity. These character qualities were formed in him when he was a young shepherd boy, worshiping God and fighting off wild animals to protect his flock. He continued to grow in faith, killing a giant with a sling and stone. For years after Samuel anointed him to be the next king of Israel, David had serious hard times. This, too, prepared him to walk into his role as king. When you read the Psalms, you see how God shaped His heart through it all. God wanted David to be a king who trusted in Him, loved Him, and who would lead God’s people righteously. Great leaders are made during the process.

Joseph endured years of hardship, false-accusation, and injustice, in which he only grew stronger in God and in character. God was shaping him to be a ruler in Egypt that would save his people in Israel from a deadly famine. Esther was entered into a beauty contest in which she went through a yearlong process of beauty treatments. God worked through this process, as well as other life-shaping events, to enable her to win the kings’ heart, and to save the Jews from a mass genocide that was to take place.
Only God sees the whole picture. You may feel stuck in certain areas of your life. Pray that God moves you forward, but milk the process you’re in for all you can while you’re in it. Perhaps you need more wisdom, patience, or love in your life. Allow the Lord to shape His character in you. You have the full attention and love of the Creator of the universe. He always has a plan and He is preparing you for more than you’ve dreamed!
